It is with deep sorrow- and abiding hope- that we share the passing of Rev. Dr. J. Samuel Escobar, Emeritus Professor of Missiology at Palmer Theological Seminary.
Dr. Escobar was a way-making voice in Latin American evangelical theology, co-founding the Latin American Theological Fellowship, and championing a contextual, socially engaged faith. We can't think of "integral mission" without remembering Dr. Escobar. His leadership extended globally through his work with the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students and the Lausanne Movement.
For many years he served as the Thornley B. Wood Professor of Missiology at the Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary (now Palmer) and Adjunct Professor at Eastern University, St. Davids, Pennsylvania. His impact and legacy extend across the globe. Well done, Dr. Escobar!
"Blessed are the dead who from now on die in the Lord.” “Yes,” says the Spirit, “they will rest from their labors, for their deeds follow them” Rev. 14:13.
