Palmer Launches Faith & Justice Workshop This February

This February, Palmer Theological Seminary will launch its new Faith & Justice Workshop, a dynamic program designed to equip faith leaders, ministry practitioners, and community advocates to engage the urgent social and spiritual challenges of our time.

Rooted in Palmer’s long-standing commitment to theologically grounded and socially engaged education, the workshop integrates biblical reflection, leadership development, and justice-centered practice. It is ideal for pastors, chaplains, nonprofit leaders, educators, and lay leaders who feel called to serve at the intersection of faith, community, and social transformation.

At its core, the Faith & Justice Workshop affirms that faith must be lived, not merely learned. Participants will explore how Christian theology speaks to issues such as racial justice, mental health, leadership ethics, community development, and the wellbeing of marginalized communities—positioning justice not as an add-on to ministry, but as central to discipleship and spiritual formation.

Aligned with initiatives like Palmer’s Flourishing Leader Project, the workshop weaves together theological reflection, justice-oriented practice, community engagement, and personal formation for sustainable leadership.

The program will be facilitated by experienced faith leaders and practitioners who bring theological depth, pastoral insight, and real-world engagement to the work of justice:

  • Rev. William Scott III will lead participants in exploring the biblical call to justice, grounding justice work in Scripture and Christian theology.

  • Rev. Jermaine Heath will examine the church as a justice-seeking community, focusing on the church’s role in embodied witness and transformation.

  • Rev. Tonya McClary, Esq. will guide participants in engaging advocacy and public witness, offering practical frameworks for faithful civic and social engagement.

  • Michelle Ferrigno Warren will address sustaining justice work in ministry, centering spiritual resilience, leadership health, and long-term impact.

More than a credential, the Faith & Justice Workshop is a formation experience—preparing leaders to think critically, lead compassionately, and act courageously in a complex world. The program goes live in February and will be open to both current students and external learners seeking meaningful theological and professional development.

Palmer continues to invite leaders not just to believe deeply—but to lead justly.
