Michael Sisson

Adjunct Faculty in Christian Ministries


Dr. Sisson is Adjunct Professor for Palmer Theological Seminary teaching in both the Doctor of Ministry and Master of Divinity academic programs.   In addition to his role as adjunct, Dr. Sisson has developed and led seminars and workshops on a variety of topics including Church Transformation, Leadership, Organizational Systems, Ministry Team Building, and Visioning at an array of venues.  

Dr. Sisson brings to Palmer Theological Seminary over two decades of leadership experience.  He currently serves as the Executive Minister for the West Virginia Baptist Convention. Previously, he served pastorates at Crab Orchard Baptist Church, Sutton Baptist Church, and New Life Baptist Church all located in West Virginia. In addition, Dr. Sisson has served on served on the Board of Directors for the Beckley Health Right Free Clinic and its subsidiaries providing health and dental care to uninsured and underserved and the Board of Directors for Precision Services Inc. a non-profit organization formed to provide employment opportunities to individuals who are physically disabled or developmentally challenged.

Research Interests

Dr. Sisson’s interests and training are in theology, leadership development, and church renewal.  He especially focused on renewal of the local church as it seeks to effectively minister in the present cultural context and the development of today’s generation of leaders.
