

The annual Homecoming celebration at Eastern University, encompassing both Eastern University and Palmer Theological Seminary, is a significant event that fosters community and recognizes profound contributions to service and ministry. Specifically, Wednesday, October 8th, 2025, is poised to be a pivotal day for Palmer Theological Seminary, featuring the #EUnited Homecoming Chapel at 3:00 p.m. and the Waymaker Award Dinner at 5:00 p.m. These events are designed to honor individuals who embody the seminary's motto – "the whole gospel for the whole world through whole persons.”

The Homecoming Chapel, scheduled for 3:00 p.m. at the McInnis Auditorium, serves as a cornerstone for the #EUnited Homecoming weekend. This complimentary event invites alumni, students, faculty, staff, family, and friends of Eastern University, and Palmer Theological Seminary to unite in worship featuring, Rev. Amy Banka, `09; Rev. Dr. Danielle Brown, `13; Rev. Dr. Wayne E. Croft Sr., `98; Rev. Dr. Catherine Williams, `10; and Rev. Elisa Media-Fuentes, `18 as Waymaker Preachers. It is a moment for the entire "EUnited community" to gather, reflect, and share in fellowship, with light refreshments available afterward.
Speakers:
- Rev. Amy Banka
- Master of Divinity, 2009. For more than a decade, Rev. Banka has led the Residency in Ministry Program for the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference of the United Methodist Church, mentoring and equipping those preparing for ordination. She is passionate about helping people encounter Christ in ways that lead to growth, hope, and transformation through her preaching and teaching of the Scriptures.
- Rev. Dr. Danielle Brown
- Doctor of Ministry, 2013. Rev. Dr. Brown is an increasingly sought-after preacher and workshop leader with the ability to communicate across multiple generations, Dr. Brown has had the opportunity to share the Gospel throughout this country and in South Africa. A natural leader, Rev. Dr. Brown has served in various capacities where she has worked to develop and implement ministry programs and strategies. She has a passion for mentoring and assisting in the development of faith and community leaders.
- Rev. Dr. Wayne E. Croft Sr.
- Master of Divinity, 1998. He has served as Pastor of St. Paul’s Baptist Church in West Chester, PA and The Church of the Redeemer Baptist in Philadelphia for a total of 33 years. Rev. Dr. Croft has distinguished himself as a pastor, writer, and a scholar. He has published numerous books including The History of the Black Baptist Church: I Don’t Feel No Ways Tired, which won the Independent Press Award.
- Rev. Dr. Catherine Williams
- Master of Divinity, 2010. Rev. Dr. Catherine E. Williams is the Associate Professor of Preaching and Worship, and Director of Chapel Worship at the Lancaster campus of Moravian University’s School of Theology. Dr. Williams’ recent book, Preaching and Music: Powerful Partners in Proclamation, Cascade (2025,) demonstrates her dual identities as musician and homiletician as she makes the case for the dynamic synergy between preaching and music and between pastors and ministers of music.

Following the chapel, the Homecoming 2025 Waymakers Award Dinner will commence at 5:00 p.m. in the Warner Library Atrium. This dinner is a distinguished occasion to honor and celebrate the 2025 Palmer Waymaker Preachers. The "Waymaker" award acknowledges an alumna or alumnus for their life of service and ministry that reflects the reign of God in the world, vitalizing a spirit of innovative pursuit and living out the seminary's core values. It recognizes those who demonstrate how theological education can extend beyond the traditional confines of the pulpit and church walls, impacting various spheres of society.
The dinner and awards ceremony begin promptly at 5 pm in the Warner Library Atrium. Tickets are free for students and Eastern employees and $20 for guests.
