CM 507/508 MIDDLER THEOLOGICAL FIELD EDUCATION
Supervised ministry in a church-based setting. Faculty-led seminar groups utilize an integrative reflection-practice model. Students must begin theological field education courses in the fall and remain in the seminar group and site placement through fall and spring semesters. Prerequisites: CM502 Intro to Pastoral Care; CM503 Personal Dimensions of Ministry OR INT501 Spiritual Formation.

CM 513 CLINICAL PASTORAL CARE PRACTICUM
Pastoral visitation in a hospital or other institutional setting under clinical supervision. Includes verbatim reports, reading critiques, supervision, peer discussion and in-service learning experiences. Prerequisites: CM502 Intro to Pastoral Care and CTM501 Systematic Theology I.

CM 635 CLINICAL PASTORAL EDUCATION
A basic unit of supervised institutional visitation and counseling of persons in certified CPE centers. Includes verbatim writing, lectures, on-call involvement, peer process group, individual supervision, and in-service learning. Can substitute for CM513. Requires at least 400 hours of supervised learning. Prerequisites: CM502 Intro to Pastoral Care and CTM501 Systematic Theology I.

B 501 NEW TESTAMENT STUDY
A foundation course in the study of the New Testament focusing on the following areas: the religious/ historical/cultural background of the New Testament; the discipline of biblical-historical study; understanding the formation of the New Testament.

B 505 NEW TESTAMENT THEOLOGY
This course will explore the major theological themes of the New Testament (Sin, Salvation, Ethics, Christ, The Spirit, Church, etc.) as the various NT voices (the Synoptic Evangelists, John, Paul, Hebrews, etc.) address them. An attempt will be made to develop a synthesis of the overall message of the New Testament. The continuing relevance and significance of this theology for Christian faith and the contemporary church will be considered. Prerequisites: B501 New Testament Study and B504 Biblical Interpretation.

B 500 OLD TESTAMENT HISTORY & CONTENT
This course aims at a thorough knowledge of the entire Old Testament. This knowledge will provide the student with a comprehensive understanding of the history of Israel.

INT 500 INTEGRATIVE SEMINAR
An integrative seminar for seniors that draws on seminary studies and ministry experience. Working in small groups and with faculty members, students will write personal statements of faith and develop theologies of ministry and mission, showing how these flow from their statements of faith. Prerequisites: CTM501 Systematic Theology I and B504 Biblical Interpretation. Limited to ten students; priority given to those expecting to graduate in 2008 or 2009.

B 503 OLD TESTAMENT STUDY
This course provides an introduction to the historical and literary contexts of the Old Testament, including an introduction to Old Testament scholarship and its application for Christian ministry. Attention will be given to hermeneutical and theological issues in Old Testament studies and the development of exegetical skills needed for the interpretation and proclamation of the different genres of Old Testament literature. B500 Old Testament History and Content or its equivalent is a prerequisite.

March 31 - April 4, 2008
CTM 630 THE ETHICS OF MINISTERIAL RELATIONSHIP
This course focuses on select ethical issues in the practice of ministry, with particular emphasis on how to develop a methodology for living one's personal ethic within the larger context of denominationalism and ecumenism. Students will gain an ethical context for ministry by pursuing ethical decision-making in light of biblical and theological traditions.
Pre-requisites: B503 Old Testament Study, B501 New Testament Study, and CTM501 Systematic Theology I. THEOLOGY/ETHICS ELECTIVE.

CM 505 PASTORAL MINISTRY
This course is designed to provide an exploration of various dynamics in pastoral ministry such as, but not limited to: pastoral identity, ministry paradigms, leadership models, laity empowerment and transformation.

Tuition & Other Costs
For the 2007-2008 academic year, tuition is $852 per course (two units). This compares with $1,136 per course for full-time students at the Seminary and $1,212 per course for part-time students. West Virginia American Baptist students should contact Dr. Thomas regarding Bowen Scholarship information.
Students are responsible for the cost of travel, room and board at Parchment Valley. For West Virginia American Baptist students, room and board is $44.75/night. For all others, room and board is $56 per night. Fees are subject to change. For information about assistance with room and board, contact Dr. William R. Thomas, On-site Administrator.
