The MTS degree program is designed to allow maximum flexibility for students to pursue their professional and personal interests and goals. The Seminary goes to great lengths to ensure that students grow during their time here, not just academically but also spiritually and in terms of vocational preparation.
Three “benchmarks” taken early in the program help to measure this growth. To measure academic formation, students write a Statement of Faith and Understanding as part of the required core course “The Church in Holistic Perspective I.” To measure spiritual formation, students write a spiritual autobiography as part of the required core course “Spiritual Formation I.” To measure vocational formation, students write a statement responding to the question “Why am I enrolling in this program?” as part of the orientation process. Students revisit these benchmarks as part of the required Capstone Seminar in the final semester.
The MTS requires the completion of 15 Level I course units (8 courses) and 17 Level II course units (9 or 10 courses) for a total of 32 program units. Required core courses comprise 19 of the 32 total units. Ten course units are fulfilled with elective courses, and the required Capstone Seminar fulfills the remaining two. Elective courses are organized based on vocational interests. For more details use the links below.
