Summative Requirements

4 Units

This concentration requires students to earn at least two units of credit by working in a clinical setting such as a hospital or counseling practice. Students have three options. They may: (1) earn four units by opting for a full Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) experience, (2) do a 2-unit CPE along with a 2-unit major research paper or project, or (3) combine a Clinical Pastoral Care (CPC) experience (two units) with a 2-unit research paper or project.

Both CPE and CPC provide practical experience. The CPE program is national in scope, while the CPC program is unique to Palmer Seminary.
