The Priscilla Institute at the Hestenes Center for Christian Women in Leadership is celebrating its Tenth Anniversary and its Tenth Annual Women’s Fair. The theme of the Fair is "Women Living in the Promise: Sankofa." Sankofa symbolizes one taking from the past what is good and bringing it into the present in order to make positive progress through the benevolent use of knowledge. It not only carries the concept of things past and where we have been, but also of things to come and where we are headed in the future. This year the Priscilla Institute is fostering ways to bring what is good from our past into the present in order to launch us into a better future.

The purposes of this two day event are to 1) heighten women’s awareness of the opportunities that exist for them to realize their highest level of leadership potential, 2) to provide a forum for women to celebrate where we have been, where we are now and where we will be in the future as we foster change and transformation in leadership and 3) to raise scholarship funds for the women studying in the Priscilla Institute.

The celebration will begin at White Rock Baptist Church, 5240 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia, PA 19139, with a Benefit Banquet (Black Tie Optional) on Friday, May 2, 2014 from 5:45 – 9:00 p.m. with plenary speaker Rev. Dr. Leslie Callahan, Pastor of St. Paul’s Baptist Church in Philadelphia, PA. The purpose of the banquet is to raise funds for the Brenda L. Johnson Memorial Scholarship Award, which is a full one year scholarship for Priscilla Institute women in their second year of study. During the banquet we will honor women from around the region who are “Living in the Promise” and helping other women realize their highest level of leadership potential.

The second day of the celebration is the Women’s Fair which is a FREE EVENT held on Saturday, May 3, 2014 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at White Rock Baptist Church, 5240 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia, PA 19139.
