Mayor Nutter Visits Palmer

BSF with MayorPalmer Seminary was pleased to welcome newly installed Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter to campus as the luncheon speaker February 18 on Mitchell Lecture day, an annual event at the Seminary. The luncheon was convened by the Black Seminarian Fellowship (BSF).

Mayor Nutter spoke about his priorities for Philadelphia, including making the city a safer place to live and work and providing better educational and employment opportunities. The Seminary has begun to think about ways it can pursue the social justice dimension of its mission in cooperation with the Nutter administration. Among the ideas is for Palmer students who are focusing on theology and public policy to serve internships with the mayor's office of Faith-based Initiatives.
