2013 Commencement on May 18

Nearly 100 men and women will be receiving Doctoral degrees, Masters
degrees, diplomas or certificates as part of Palmer Theological Seminary's 2013
commencement exercises, scheduled for 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, at Enon
Tabernacle Baptist Church on Cheltenham Avenue in Philadelphia. Of these, 63 will
be receiving either a Master of Divinity or a Master of Theological Studies degree,
and 7 will be receiving a Doctor of Ministry degree in the Seminary's re-launched
Leadership of Missional Church Renewal program.
This year's commencement speaker will be Dr. Mimi Haddad, who is president of
Christians for Biblical Equality (CBE). CBE is a nonprofit organization of Christian
men and women who believe that the Bible, properly interpreted, teaches the
fundamental equality of men and women of all ethnic groups, all economic classes,
and all age groups, based on the teachings of Scriptures such as Galatians 3:28.
Dr. Haddad serves on the advisory committee for Evangelicals for Justice, an
organization that seeks to deepen our evangelical understanding and commitment
to biblical justice. She is a founding member of the Evangelicals and Gender
Study Group at the Evangelical Theological Society, and also served as the
convener of the Issue Group 24 for the 2004 Lausanne III Committee for World
Evangelization. Dr. Haddad has written more than one hundred articles and blogs
and has contributed to nine books, most recently Living Faith: The Fragrance
, published by the Evangelical Fellowship of India and the Evangelical
Fellowship of India Commission on Relief, 2011. She is also an editor and a
contributing author of Global Voices on Biblical Equality: Women and Men Serving
Together in the Church
Dr. Haddad is an adjunct assistant professor at Fuller Theological Seminary
(Houston), an adjunct assistant professor at Bethel University (Saint Paul, MN), and
an adjunct professor at North Park Theological Seminary (Chicago, Illinois).
A graduate of the University of Colorado and Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary
(summa cum laude), Dr. Haddad holds a Ph.D. in historical theology from the
University of Durham, England.
Dr. Haddad will also be presented with an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree from
Palmer Theological Seminary at this year's commencement.
