Palmer Seminary of Eastern University will host a one-day conference on the legacy of scholar-social activist Howard Thurman on Saturday, September 11, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. A donation of $30 is being asked of those who attend. This donation covers a continental breakfast and lunch.
The main speaker for the event is Rev. Robert Lovett, Sr., pastor of Wayland Temple Baptist Church in Philadelphia. Ron Payne, founder and Managing Director of Purchasing Services, Inc., will serve as moderator. Among the other conference participants are Rev. Claude W. Ashe, Dr. Lucille Joy, James Emrich, Dr. Mary Wade, and Rev. Dr. Marsha Brown Woodard.
Conference co-sponsors include Faith Tabernacle Baptist Church, First Baptist Church of Wayne, Wayland Temple Baptist Church, the Metropolitan Christian Council of Philadelphia, and the New Conversation on Race and Ethnicity.
