Palmer Seminary has entered into a partnership with the urban mininstry organization Mission Year. Participants in Mission Year’s 11-month volunteer service program may earn credits toward the MTS degree (Public Policy concentration). It is possible to earn the degree in one additional year at Palmer, though students may take as much time as they need to complete the degree.
Those who want to take advantage of this partnership must apply to and be accepted at Palmer Seminary prior to beginning their Mission Year experience. Mission Year volunteers are typically recent college graduates who volunteer for a social service organization in an urban setting. Those who plan on going on for a Masters degree at Palmer would, during their time with Mission Year, serve a public policy organization. They also need to do some coursework related to MTS requirements at Palmer.
Mission Year alums receive a 30 percent tuition discount on courses taken during their time at Palmer. Mission Year has locations in Philadelphia, Atlanta, Chicago, New Orleans, Houston, and Charlotte.
