Three Palmer Seminary students will be taking the January Term travel course "Theological Education and Ministerial Practice from a Central American Perspective," taught by Professor Mayra Picos-Lee, a native of Mexico. The class will be in El Salvador from January 16 to January 23.

Mayra Picos-LeeStudents Marikay Green, Heather Biscoe, and Joshua Walters will be making the trip. They will be joined by recent PTS alumnus Douglas Avilesbernal, pastor of Central Baptist Church in Norristown, PA. The immersion experience will focus on observing, assessing, and experiencing some of the realities that inform theological education and ministerial practice in El Salvador.

Participants will interview Salvadoran church leaders in various parts of the country, primarily San Salvador, Santa Ana, and Zacatelouca. The "tour guide" for the week-long excursion is El Salvador-based American Baptist Churches missionary Kim Cushner.
