My favorite thing about teaching research skills is that I get to become invisible. As students improve their skills in researching and using the library's resources, they need less and less assistance. I know that my goal has been reached when a student comes into the library and doesn't immediately look to someone for help.

Melody serves as a member of the Commission on Accrediting of the Association of Theological Schools of United States and Canada (ATS). She serves as a library consultant for the American Theological Library Association (ATLA), of which she is a member, and for Resource Leadership International. She is also a member of the Board of the Theological Book Network, which she currently serves as Chair.

Melody has made more than 30 accreditation visits on behalf of ATS and has served as library consultant at several schools in the U.S. as well as in Ghana, Kenya, Spain, and Mexico. She has served on the board of ATLA, of which she is a member. Her professional memberships include the Fellowship of Christian Librarians and Information Specialists; North American Serials Interest Group (NASIG); and the Southeastern Pennsylvania Theological Library Association, of which she is a past president.
