Praise & Promise: A Pictorial History of Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary 1925-2000
View sample pages
Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary was founded on March 19, 1925 by six courageous individuals who, with a vision and $26, began an institution on the promise that they would indeed be able to prepare church leaders to spread "the whole gospel to the whole world."
Praise & Promise: A Pictorial History of the Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary, written by Randy Frame, uses more than 250 photographs to trace the Seminary's past from the original Seminary campus at 1808-18 Rittenhouse Square in Philadelphia to its present location at City and Lancaster Avenues. Campus events and the real adventures of Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary pioneers are retold. Among those highlighted are Austen K. deBlois, Carl Morgan, Gilbert L. Guffin, Culbert G. Rutenber, Martha Leypoldt and Norman H. Maring. The 192-page pictorial history also takes a look at the transformation of the Green Hill Farms Hotel to a seminary where, according to an early catalog, "the rapidly expanding life at Eastern [found] more freedom."
Adjusting to growth, social change and church needs, Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary has evolved. Today it is an ever-dynamic community of faith, fully committed to the principles of its founders and moving ahead in preparing transformational leaders for the church of today.
As one who has been a part of the Seminary community, we know you will find this pictorial history a must for your library. It is a story of a promise realized through patience, obedience, praise and thanksgiving. This beautifully produced keepsake is a hard cover, 8 1/2" x 11" volume of 192 pages and more than 250 photographs.
